BY SUBJECT
Required at most CODA-accredited programs. Patient communication, dental anxiety management, and behavioral health foundations — self-paced, regionally accredited through UIU.
General Psychology is required at most CODA programs because patient-centered dental hygiene practice demands strong behavioral health foundations. DH clinicians regularly manage dental anxiety, communicate sensitive oral health information, motivate patients toward preventive behavior change, and work with special needs populations. The psychological content in General Psychology maps directly to patient communication skills taught in CODA program curricula.
